Putting Together a Web Team

The Houston Burners website is due for an overhaul, and we’re looking for people interested in taking that on.

The current website is built from WordPress and a bunch of plugins, like WooCommerce, Stripe and MailChimp.  It’s got a lot of data in it, and it’s currently processing regular donations and ticket sales, so we’ll need to update and maintain it for awhile, regardless of what other plans we make.  If you’re particularly good at WordPress (or just interested in getting good at it) and would like to work on the site, we want to hear from you.

Before you design and build a website, you have to know how it’s going to be used, and for what.  We’ve used this one for a couple of years now, and have learned some things about what we do and don’t want from a website.  We also have multiple domains that need attention (houstonburners.org and .com, and unbrokenspring.org and .com) so there’s plenty of work to be done, and plenty of opportunity to do different things.

After FreezerBurn, we’re going to start a robust discussion about requirements and design of the Houston Burner web presence.  If you’ve got a background in web design or development, web frameworks, content generation, or if you just want to be part of the discussion, please fill out this form.
